January

Marcus Fraser Ambrose

Corowa is the home to the largest  Amateur Golfing event in Australia. This event is a 3 Day event generally running on the first weekend in January. It starts with a 5 hole sprint on Friday followed by both an AM & PM field shot gun start on the Saturday & Sunday.

Australia Day Weekend

Corowa is the home of Federation. Over the Australia Day weekend Corowa has a weekend long celebrations. Fireworks at the John Foord Oval and Annual Street Parade are the features of the weekend. Contact the Corowa information centre for more information (02) 6033 3221.

Federation Classic tournament at the Corowa Golf Club

The Federation Classic is a 3 day event running Saturday, Sunday and Monday of the Australia Day long weekend.

Tastes of Rutherglen

This is proudly brought to you by the Winemakers of Rutherglen and major sponsor TAC. The 19 wineries are matched with the skills of our regional chefs. An unbelievable weekend! Every year the wineries and restaurants of the region get together with some of Australia’s best musicians to present this fabulous food and wine festival. If you like great wine, great food, great music and a lot of fun, then don’t miss it!

How it works… Simply buy a Tastes of Rutherglen souvenir glass for $5, available at all wineries, to use and keep. Choose from an amazing selection of wine, food and entertainment and move from winery to winery as you please.

All meals are $15 and are matched perfectly with a complimentary glass of wine. Meals available from 11am — 3pm, desserts till 5pm. Sorry, no BYO picnics or beer.

How to get around? Winery Shuttle Bus, simply hop on and off as you please without the worry of driving. Operating from 10am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday at a cost of $20 each day! The Easter Tournament is a 3 day event Running Saturday, Sunday and Monday over Easter.

Billy cart Races

The Billy cart races are on every Easter Saturday down the Main Street and are a sight to see.

April

Chomley Davidson Bowl

The Chomley Davidson Bowl has been held annually, on the second Friday in April, for the past 19 years. This is one of the longest running major events at the Corowa Golf Club, attracting ladies from neighbouring as well as players from clubs across the Riverina, North Eastern Victorian districts and Melbourne. This ladies golf tournament attracts a field of 100+ ladies every time it is held.

 

June

June Long Weekend

Rutherglen celebrates the Queen’s birthday with an annual wine festival the Rutherglen Winery Walkabout. The event has grown over the years and is known world wide for the event. Going from humble begins, the event is now held over two days (Saturday & Sunday). This is a weekend of fun and festivities for all ages. Buses provide safe transport around the wineries. Be quick to book your accommodation and seat on a bus well in advance as both fill quickly.

Rutherglen Wine Show

The show is growing in numbers year by year and this year promises to be even bigger and better.

Young Bloods of Rutherglen

The younger generation of some of Rutherglen’s oldest wine families. On day one, join the Young Bloods for a fabulous feast and learn the art of matching wine and food. Sample your way around the regional produce stalls and compare Rutherglen’s great wines at the Producers’ Picnic on the Sunday. Corowa Races

Corowa Race Course is the place to be. Local betting facilities together with TAB (NSW) are available. A wonderful picnic atmosphere and fabulous fashions on the field are features at the Corowa races. Visitors are reminded BYO alcohol is not permitted.

Monday night at Corowa Golf Club is a must for the Melbourne Cup Calcutta draw. Enjoy the excitement and feverish bidding during the auction of the Cup horses.
